Built in Cookers

Built In Cooker Installation

Installing a built in cooker is generally quite simple. There are however a couple of things need to be aware of just so you have a good understanding of what you need to do beforehand. Some people do opt to install these themselves and of course some people will require the services of an electrician.

It's important before you make your purchase that you have your kitchen ready for the appliance to be installed. If you have integrated cabinets you need to make sure that you measure the size correctly as you will find differences between single oven cookers and double oven cookers and possibly even differences between many different manufacturers to last thing you want is problems with the installation so make sure you get this right.

Next you want to make sure you have the correct power. Hopefully you will have an electrical power outlet fitted close by to where you will be installing your cooker. Generally in most modern designed kitchens you'll find that they will have already talked about this and supplied a power socket close to where you are going to install.

In most cases you'll be using a 13 amp supply and your oven should with a 13 amp plug. As I have said already in most modern homes hopefully in the plug socket should be fitted directly behind where you are going to place the cooker in the cabinet. If this is the case, it is absolutely perfect because that power wire supplied with the built-in cooker may not be long enough to stretch it needs to go further. If this is the case you may need to contact an electrician to help you get in the installation.

Sometimes you may need to also check out the circuit. Generally a standard 13 amp socket can handle up to 3KW which would be perfect but it also depends a lot else you're one on this circuit because if you are running too much equipment that would be a tendency to trip this circuit at times. The reality is if you think this is going to be an issue simply speak to an expert and they will be able to give you more details on this.

There are a couple of things you also need to do before you make a purchase

You should ensure whichever brand and model you choose that it has a good ratings and you have read many reviews on this so you know there will be no issues once it is installed for general use. Make sure you choose a brand that has a reputation in supplying cooking appliances.

You should always ensure that you are getting a good price and because this is a competitive markets you'll always find at many stores may have a special offer to try and entice customers to purchase. If you are also thinking of purchasing hobs keep in mind electrical aspects that are required when installing this. Most kitchens one on a different electrical circuit compared to rest of the home and you can consult with an expert on this just to make sure before purchasing. The last thing you want to do is to spend your hard and catch something only to discover that you need to pay extra to get this work completed.

When you make a purchase

Hopefully you'll be able to find something at the perfect price. Once you get this home pop it onto your worktop counter and make sure to unwrap everything. I would recommend giving it a good cleaning before use, washing the various parts of the stove by following the instructions in the manual.

If you are going to be fitting this yourself you may need an extra pair of hands just to insure one person can plug-in the cooker into the wall socket while the other person is hold it before you put this in place in the cabinets. It's little things like this people do not think of until they are in a corporate situation of trying to carry and hold and also try and fit at the same time. Make sure the door is secure when moving in case this opens and causes you problems.

Hopefully you have been able to get some help and ideas from the information above. Simple things like ensuring you have the power and washing before use are things some people may not get it before using.
